Thomas Jerry Jameson is a pilot. He went up the way pilots do, on a mission with a return date, and then he saw the planet from above and the return date stopped mattering. He stayed. And he holds one rule above everything else: if every single frame of a shot doesn't deserve to hang on a wall, the shot doesn't belong in the film.
